The UK health secretary Andrew Lansley has launched an NHS White Paper in which the concept of ?social entrepreneurs in residence is described as an innovative solution to issues of funding and access in health provision.  It will form part of the governments big society, this concept you can view at https://advanced-writer.com/ so you will better understand the messages and ideas of the government.

Simply put, Social Entrepreneurs in Residence (SEiRs) scout for potential entrepreneurs and new ideas in health and social care.  They then try to turn these ideas into businesses, working with local authorities, voluntary organisations and healthcare professionals.

An early pioneer of the practice was the Young Foundation, which has supported two SEiRs, in Birmingham and Kingston on Thames, who have identified suitable enterprises and have nurtured them towards mainstream commissions. 

Health secretary Lansley has described his vision for the NHS as ?the largest, most vibrant social enterprise sector in the world? and is moving the service towards a more entrepreneurial, innovative model, where consortia of GPs will make purchasing decisions, along with a new Public Health Service, run by local authorities. 

The whole definition of ?health? will broaden, following recommendation from the Marmot Report, to include social interaction, physical activity and community engagement, along with technological advances such as telecare.  Patients will be encouraged to play a greater role in their own care.
