The CubeSat Opportunity

Chadwick Building, University College London - Instrumentation for hostile environment

London

29 September 2009

New technology concepts for space missions face significant challenges. Given the cost of spacecraft and the extreme difficulty for "servicing missions", designers are reluctant to use new technology that has not been tested in flight.

CubeSat satellites, however, represent a significant commercial, technological and scientific opportunity to enable innovation in the space arena by overcoming barriers associated with the acquisition of ?space heritage? for any spacecraft component, instrument or payload.
